At Portland Spencer Academy we believe in providing the best quality teaching and learning for all of our pupils, every day, so that every moment counts and no-one gets left behind. We all work together to ensure that our curriculum engages and excites all learners and provides opportunities for deeper learning. Wherever possible we encourage children to plan the direction of their learning, instilling independence and a positive attitude towards being a lifelong learner. We plan creatively to ensure our content is rich and engages all of our learners. We use hooks, missions and stimuli, such as going out into the world to explore places of interest, or inviting people into school to share interesting information. This provides our children with experience of the community, and world they live in. Each half term the learning is based around a quality text. All our children are bought a copy of the class book so that they can enjoy, immerse and read at home. By the end of each academic year, all our pupils will have six copies of books which they have enjoyed as part of their learning at Portland Spencer Academy.
